Car Strikes Utility Pole, Disrupts Traffic in Waltham

WALTHAM, MA - Emergency crews in Waltham responded to a MVA after a car struck a utility pole on Second Avenue, March 24th.
Waltham Fire Department dispatched Engine 2, Rescue 1, and a medic unit to the scene at 135 Second Avenue. Upon arrival, companies found a female driver uninjured and safely out of the vehicle, which had come to rest with the utility pole down on top of the car.
Crews quickly secured the area as the damaged pole posed a hazard, with the potential to pull down additional power lines. Due to the risk and necessary safety precautions, traffic in the area was impacted for over an hour while responders managed the scene.
Firefighters remained on scene until the situation was stabilized and the area was deemed safe.
