February 3, 2026 — Macclenny Fire and Rescue Department, along with Baker County Fire Rescue, responded overnight to reports of a structure fire with explosions in the 1000 block of Persimmons Road. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions involving a fully engulfed detached garage, with flames threatening a nearby residence and two campers. Firefighters quickly deployed two pre-connected hose lines and initiated an aggressive interior and exterior attack. Operations were complicated by multiple hazards, including actively flaring propane tanks. A four-apparatus water supply was established, allowing sustained suppression efforts. Through coordinated teamwork, crews brought the fire under control within approximately 23 minutes, successfully protecting all exposed structures. No further damage to surrounding buildings was reported, though the contents of the garage were a total loss. Officials expressed support for the homeowners affected by the incident.
