March 10, 2026 — Alachua County Fire Rescue continued to strengthen its emergency response capabilities through a series of technical rescue training exercises conducted throughout February and March. Members of the department’s Technical Rescue Team participated in specialized vehicle and machinery extrication drills, as well as confined space rescue scenarios designed to simulate real-world emergencies. Crews practiced stabilizing and rolling overturned vehicles with limited access in order to safely remove trapped patients, while confined space operations required responders to descend approximately 15 feet and navigate nearly 100 feet through a storm drain system. Utilizing air monitoring equipment and hands-free communication tools, personnel reinforced critical skills necessary for high-risk, low-frequency incidents, ensuring readiness to protect the community under complex conditions.
