PATERSON, NJ - Firefighters battled a stubborn three-alarm blaze that destroyed a pickle factory early Saturday morning, March 25th.

Around 6:00 A.M., a reported building fire came in for the area of Ellison St. and Straight St. Battilion 3 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire at 220 Ellison St., with fire showing from a one-story commercial building. Companies arrived on scene, established water supplies, stretched lines and made access to the building via loading dock doors.

Firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions throughout the building and set up for defensive operations. A second-alarm was transmitted to bring additional water to supply tower ladders. Heavy smoke billowed from the entire structure as part of the roof collapsed, emitting heavy fire through the roof in the rear. A third-alarm was transmitted and Ladder 3 was ordered to set up in the rear of the structure.

Two tower ladders, one ladder pipe and multiple handlines attacked the fire for over an hour before it was knocked down, however firefighters would remain on scene for extensive overhaul. No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation.
