Mastic Ambulance Assists Suffolk PD at Barricaded Subject Call

MASTIC, NY – On Saturday, March 19th just after 2:00 P.M., Suffolk County Police were dispatched to a home on Titmus Dr., between Ardmour St. and Boonar St., for a male subject in the home possibly armed with a handgun and making threats.

Police Officers attempted to make contact, but were unsuccessful. The Suffolk Police Emergency Services unit was requested as well as additional resources from the gang unit and medcat unit for a reported barricaded subject. Police also requested rescue to stage in case they were needed.

Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services dispatched the Mastic Ambulance Co. to a staging area at the corner of Boonar St. and Lambert Ave. Mastic ambulance quickly responded to the call with a 1st Responder and Ambulance under the command of Chief of Department Mike Monauban (5-37-30).

The crew, some wearing bullet proof vests, stood by in and behind the ambulance down the block from the home while police in tactical gear began to descend on the neighborhood. Additional sector cars were also requested to canvas the neighborhood by any of the subject's known hang outs using a K-9. Aviation was also requested, but was unable to fly due to weather conditions.

Suffolk Police Emergency Services officers were on scene at the home along with 7th Precinct officers for several hours. After confirming that the subject was not in the home, officers cleared the scene. Police did not release any additional information about the incident.
