GENESEO, NY - On Thursday, August 22, at 9:58 a.m., Geneseo firefighters were dispatched to a microwave on fire at 4328 Country Club Road.
Units arrived on scene and found heavy smoke conditions throughout a large two-story farmhouse, broken up into apartments.
Mutual aid responded from Livonia and Lakeville fire departments, followed by additional requests from Mt. Morris, East Avon and Caledonia.
Firefighting efforts were hampered by balloon frame construction and multiple layers of roofing under a metal roof.
The blaze was called under control at 2:51 p.m., with units remaining on the scene for several more hours extinguishing hot spots.
One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.
The displaced residents were being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Also assisting at the scene were Livingston County Emergency Management, Livingston County EMS, Livingston County Sheriff's Office and National Grid.
