Mutual Aid Departments Assist at Serious Crash in Lakeview District

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — March 15th — A multi-vehicle collision involving multiple patients was responded to by the Lakeview Fire Department, located at 891 Woodfield Road, West Hempstead, NY, United States, 11552. When firefighters arrived, they saw several damaged cars and started helping EMS personnel with scene control and patient care. The South Hempstead Fire Department, Lynbrook Fire Department, and Malverne Fire Department all sent out mutual assistance teams to help.


In accordance with Nassau County mass casualty incident protocols, the command set up triage operations. Two black tag patients, two red tag patients with serious injuries, one yellow tag patient, and four green tag patients with minor injuries were found during the patient assessment. While ambulances carried victims to nearby hospitals, firefighters secured the area and supported EMS. During the response, Nassau County Police helped with incident management and traffic control.
