ISLAND PARK, NY — February 26th — A reported fire inside a two-story single-family home prompted the Department Island Park Volunteer Fire Department to respond. When chief officers arrived, they discovered that the house was on fire, and personnel started putting it out. While search operations verified that every inhabitant had left, firefighters stretched handlines and examined the building for extensions. In roughly twenty-five minutes, the fire was contained. There were about forty firefighters on the site.

The City of Long Beach Fire Department, Oceanside Fire Department, Point Lookout–Lido Fire Department, Atlantic Beach Rescue, and Freeport Fire Department all offered mutual aid support. There were no reported injuries. Six adults and one kid who had been displaced by the fire received assistance from the American Red Cross. Investigations are being conducted by the Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office.
