WINCHENDON, MA - At 3:41a.m. on March 20th, Winchendon 911 dispatch started to receive multiple calls for a building fire on Lincoln Ave Ext.
When Winchendon Engine 1 arrived, FF/Medic Tyler Pelkey “Medic 2” transmitted a second alarm, which was quickly followed by a third alarm due to extremely heavy fire conditions with occupied houses severely exposed.
Multiple mutual aid companies from Mass and NH responded to the scene to assist. Winchendon police immediately evacuated four homes being threatened by the intense heat.
The inferno leveled the 125 x 70 foot three-story wood-frame mill building in 45 minutes. There were no injuries, and the fire is under investigation.
