Hazmat Response Handles Cream Spill in Masonville

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On the morning of March 12, firefighters from the Masonville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a complaint of a leaking milk truck tank.

When crews arrived, they saw a truck carrying cream spilling from the top of the tank. Firefighters commenced hazardous procedures to control the spill and assess cleanup possibilities. After checking with the environmental control officer, technicians decided it was okay to dilute the product with water and rinse it off the road.

Officials emphasized that milk products might be toxic to fish if they reach streams in large quantities. Firefighters used a lot of water to dilute the spill and cleaned up any substance that had gotten into neighboring storm drains.
