Resident Rescued from City of Newburgh House Fire

NEWBURGH, NY - Newburgh FD responded to a reported rear porch on fire, March 24th around 2:10 PM at 29 Robinson Ave. The rear porch was fully-involved when Command arrived. A second-alarm was sounded, requesting response from the West Point, Air National Guard and Good Will Fire departments to the scene.


Newburgh's Ladder was working on the roof area while firefighters used hand lines to knock the fire down. Additional firefighters helped with ground ladders and other hand lines. Robinson Ave. was blocked at Broadway and First Street by City of Newburgh Police.


One resident was rescued through a side window on the south side of the building. They were transported to Montefiore-St. Luke's Hospital.


Orange County Deputy Fire Coordinator 36-13, and Orange County Fire Investigators 36-103 and 104 were at the scene. Two additional firefighters were taken to Montefiore-St. Luke's Hospital by Empress EMS. Central Hudson was called for a power cut. The fire is currently under investigation.
