FREEPORT, NY — March 17th — On March 17, the Freeport Fire Department, located at 15 Broadway in Freeport, New York, responded to a reported fire at 30 Commercial Street. Units arriving at the scene found a trailer fully involved with fire. In an effort to contain the fire, firefighters started suppression operations. A dead individual was found inside the trailer's ruins after the fire was put out. During the response, neither firefighters nor citizens were reported injured.

The Freeport Police Department, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office, and the Nassau County Arson Squad arrived at the scene and started an investigation. Authorities are attempting to identify the deceased person found at the scene and ascertain the cause of the fire.
