Mutual Aid Call Sends Perth Crews to Broadalbin Station

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Perth, NY — March 9th — A notification of a potential structure fire on Lampman Road in the Town of Broadalbin prompted the Perth Volunteer Fire Company to coordinate mutual help with the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Volunteer Fire Company. According to early accounts, there was a strong smoke smell near a house that might have been caused by an electrical problem. The incident commander asked Perth units to wait at the Broadalbin fire station while Broadalbin-Kennyetto teams assessed the situation.

In order to guarantee that extra resources are available while workers are dedicated to a current event, the fire service frequently uses standby coverage. Perth firemen were freed from standby and put back into service once the situation was assessed and no fire needing more resources was discovered.
