Mutual Aid Response Brings Area Departments to Barn Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Fonda, NY — February 26th — When a barn fire was reported, the Town of Mohawk Fire Department arrived to help the Glen Fire Department with a mutual assistance reaction. When firefighters arrived, they saw that the building was completely destroyed. To contain the fire and safeguard surrounding structures, crews from other departments collaborated. In Montgomery County's rural districts, where major structure fires frequently require additional manpower and tanker support, mutual aid responses are typical.

Firefighters from the Town of Mohawk helped with suppression operations and then overhaul while crews looked for any hot spots that might still be there. According to officials, nobody was hurt during the event.
