Canajoharie, NY — March 8th — Canajoharie Vol Fire Department responded to a barn fire at 701 Clinton Road in the Town of Canajoharie. Chief Nestle left for his destination. Mutual aid departments were asked to respond fully after many calls were received. When firemen arrived, they saw that the barn was completely engulfed and started defensive measures to shield surrounding exposures.
Two 1½-inch hose lines and a 3-inch line with a blitz monitor were deployed by the crews. Due to the distance from a dependable water source, tanker operations were created, and fill sites were established at a county pond. Fort Plain, South Minden, Ames, Ephratah, and St. Johnsville mutual aid departments provided assistance. There were no reported injuries.
