March 4, 2026 — Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported electrical barn fire on School House Road, dispatching Engine 1, Engine 2, FAST, and Tanker with 18 members.
Upon arrival and investigation, crews determined the incident to be an unintended cooking fire in the kitchen, rather than an electrical fire as initially reported. Thanks to the homeowner’s quick actions and a coordinated multi-agency response, the fire was extinguished rapidly with minimal damage to the structure.
Assisting agencies included Addison Volunteer Fire Department, Vergennes Fire Department, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, and Shelburne Communication Center.
Officials credited strong teamwork and rapid response for the positive outcome.
