At 5:26 p.m. on March 9, firefighters from the Olive Fire Department Co. #1 Inc. responded to a reported brush fire at 760 Vly Road.

Car 44 arrived on the scene and confirmed a working forest fire. Crews struggled to confine and extinguish the fire, necessitating the call for additional department personnel and equipment.

Firefighters worked for almost three hours, bringing the fire under control and clearing around two acres of scorched land. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection and a New York State Forest Rangers unit responded to the area.

Following the incident, members spent almost an hour returning equipment to the station for service.
