The Commack Fire Department responded to various incidents on March 6th, starting with a reported building fire at 157 Cornell Drive around 9:23 p.m. Crews discovered that the fire, which had started on the side of the house near electrical service wires, had been mostly extinguished before they arrived.
Firefighters activated one hose line to extinguish the residual fire and check for extension within the structure. Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to the call, with the Smithtown Fire Department serving as the automatic RIT. About 20 minutes later, Companies 1 and 2 responded to a car accident on the Sunken Meadow Parkway. Shortly thereafter, those units, along with the chiefs, were asked to assist the East Northport Fire Department with a ladder truck at a working home fire.
