Fatal Tractor-Trailer Vs. Car Crash in Commack

COMMACK, NY - The Commack Fire Department and Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps, along with Suffolk County Police, responded to an accident with reported entrapment on Jericho Turnpike near Verleye Avenue just before 12:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 18th.


Upon arrival, units discovered a car that had crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer, trapping two occupants in the vehicle. Firefighters used multiple hurst tools to free the occupants. One occupant was pronounced dead on scene and the other was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.


The roadway was closed for an extended period of time. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
