This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Rochester, NY — March 15th — A complaint of smoke inside a house on Old Edgemere Drive prompted firefighters from the Lake Shore Fire Department-Monroe County, located at 1 Long Pond Rd. In less than three minutes, the first engine arrived and promptly discovered a fire within one of the house's walls. Before the fire could grow further, crews opened the wall area and put it out.

According to officials, the fire was limited to the room where it started, which lessened the amount of structural damage. Monroe County fire stations place a strong emphasis on reporting smoke or strange smells as soon as possible. In this instance, the resident's prompt action and the department's prompt response prevented the problem from getting worse on a windy day.
