Firefighters Battle House Fire in Northeast Reading

At 15:50 hours box assignment was sent to a reported house fire at 635 N 12th St in the Northeast Part of the City after receiving multiple calls. Engine 9 and Ladder 3 arrived to find smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story middle of the row dwelling and confirmed the address to be 633 N 12th St. Car 7 declared a working fire as Medic 1 confirmed fire showing from the 1st floor rear. Firefighters stretched two 1 3/4 hand lines and were able to quickly get water on the fire. While searching companies found a victim on the second floor. A second medic unit was added as the victim was removed from the residence. With water on the fire, companies began checking for extension and found minor extension to 635 N 12th St. Firefighters worked through hoardings conditions to search for any hot spots and secure utilities. The fire was placed under control with overhaul at 16:18 hours. The Fire Marshal’s office was requested to the scene to investigate. As companies began clearing just before 17:00 hours the scene turned over to the Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation. No one was transported from the scene.
