At 11:53 p.m. on March 15, the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire on Ridge Road in the Town of Broadalbin. According to initial reports, a garage fire occurred near a dwelling.

Arriving units identified a fully engaged structure fire and began suppression operations, while more resources were requested. The Perth Volunteer Fire Company responded as mutual aid, and tankers were requested from the Mayfield Fire Department, Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department, and Berkshire Fire Department to assist with the water supply operation. Galway Volunteer Fire Company was also asked to provide an engine and crew.

Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Police directed traffic around the incident, while the department's Fire Auxiliary assisted responders. Perth also offered a mobile cascade system, and the Fulton County Emergency Management Office responded to help. National Grid was alerted when an arcing transformer was discovered near the home.

The Town of Perth Highway Department aided operations by dispatching a wheeled excavator to the location. After clearing, Perth units remained at their station for Broadalbin-Kennyetto coverage.
