Norwich Fire Local 892 would like to give our congratulations to Lieutenant Glenn Watts on his retirement from the City of Norwich. Effective March 17th, Lt. Watts retired after 20-years of dedicated service to the department and citizens of Norwich. He began his career with the City of Norwich Fire Department on March 10, 2004 and served as a firefighter on Platoon 3 and 4.

He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2016 and was assigned to Platoon 1 where he has served since. Lt. Watts retires as the senior Lieutenant in the Norwich Fire Department and has served at the Greeneville Station for many years. In addition to his passion for the fire service overall, Lt. Watts also had a love for the history of our organization. He completed work on the book in the Images of America series titled “Norwich Firefighting” which includes information and photographs from the past fire service in Norwich. Additionally, he worked hard to restore artifacts from the Greeneville Firehouse including the company sign over the bay doors.

Each year, Lt. Watts led an effort to place grave markers at local cemeteries honoring our deceased members who had served in the military. His dedication to the Norwich Fire Department, its history and fire service as a whole contributed to the continued growth of our department. The lieutenant also invented and patented the Camur Tool which firefighters around the country now carry with their gear. We wish him a happy and healthy retirement. Congratulations Lieutenant!
