CONSTABLEVILLE, NY — March 14th — During a whiteout, the Constableville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a two-vehicle collision on New York State Route 26 in the Constableville region. Engine 1 and Constableville Ambulance arrived to assess the cars and check the occupants. No injuries were discovered, according to officials.
While West Leyden Fire Department firemen helped by rerouting traffic at Route 26 and Golden Road until the situation was cleared, Engine 3 was tasked with traffic control at the intersection of Route 26 and John Street. Rural fire stations often handle traffic management during collisions, particularly during winter storms when visibility and road conditions put drivers and emergency personnel at greater risk.
