CASTORLAND, NY — February 28th — When tanker support was needed for a structure fire at 1557 Pinckney Road in the Town of Pinckney, the Castorland Fire Co. responded on mutual aid. To support the Rutland Fire Department and other responding agencies, Tanker/Engine 1 and Tanker 2 were sent out. When Castorland firefighters arrived, they joined a number of tanker units running a water shuttle to assist with suppression efforts.

In Lewis County's rural areas, where hydrants are scarce, water shuttle services are frequently utilized. Until the fire was contained, more firemen helped the crews on the spot. Later, Castorland units were released by command, and equipment was put back into action.
