Manchester Firefighters Provide Mutual Aid at Winhall Structure Fire

March 10, 2026 — The Manchester Fire Department VT responded as a mutual aid partner to a reported structure fire in the town of Winhall at approximately 6:41 p.m. Crews were dispatched with one engine carrying an interior firefighting crew and a tanker to assist the primary responding agency, the Winhall Fire Department. Upon arrival, Manchester firefighters integrated with other responding agencies and provided interior firefighting support and overhaul operations to ensure that all remaining hot spots were fully extinguished and that the structure was safe. Crews worked alongside mutual aid partners during the evening response, utilizing hose lines and apparatus to support suppression and water supply operations while firefighters conducted final checks inside the building. The coordinated effort helped bring the incident under control and secure the scene safely. Manchester units remained on scene assisting with overhaul and safety operations before clearing the incident at approximately 8:52 p.m. Fire officials thanked the Winhall Fire Department and all responding agencies for their coordinated and professional response. Firefighters also reminded residents of the importance of maintaining working smoke alarms, keeping home escape routes clear, and immediately evacuating and calling 911 if smoke or fire is discovered.
