MANCHESTER, NH - City firefighters were dispatched at 3:20 P.M. on March 10th to the area of Maple and Spruce Streets for numerous calls reporting a garage on fire in the area.
First due companies found heavy smoke banked down in the street and a working fire in a six-bay garage at 337 Maple Street. The multiple-bay garage was also attached to a large two-and-a-half story house. A second-alarm was transmitted, bringing additional fire companies to the scene.
Firefighters used multiple saws to open up the bay doors to gain access to the seat of the fire. The garage was loaded with numerous automobiles, a motorcycle and materials in each unit.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, and firefighters remained at the scene for an extended time removing the contents and extinguishing hot spots. The MFD Fire Investigation unit was on the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.
