Fitchburg, MA — April 9th — The Fitchburg Fire Department, located at 33 North St., sent Engine 1 to Lunenburg in response to a reported fire in a mutual aid structure. Using the existing incident command system, Engine 1 responded to help Lunenburg personnel working on the scene. Employees assisted with hose line work and mutual assistance company coordination, among other fireground operations.
Throughout the region, mutual aid actions are commonplace, enabling departments to pool personnel and equipment during operational events. In addition to ensuring that enough resources are available for prolonged situations, these operations aid in maintaining coverage.
