SLINGERLANDS, NY - A driver was extricated from their vehicle after striking a tree in Slingerlands back in January. 

Crews were called to the area of 1746 New Scotland Rd. in Slingerlands around 3:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 29th, for a car that crashed into a tree. Units en route to the crash were advised of possible entrapment of the driver.

The car was headed eastbound on New Scotland Road when it exited the south side of the road, striking a tree, according to Chief Craig Sleurs of the Slingerlands Fire Department. Sleurs says firefighters needed to pop the door to assist getting the patient out and moved to an awaiting ambulance on scene. The cause of the crash is believed to have been a medical event suffered by the driver, Sleurs said.

New Scotland Road was closed in both directions from Upper Font Grove Road to Fisher Boulevard for approximately one hour.

Slingerlands Fire, Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, Albany County Paramedics, Bethlehem Police and Albany County Sheriff’s responded to the scene. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
