CENTRAL SQUARE, NY - In the Palermo Volunteer Fire Department district on County Route 4, firefighters from the Caughdenoy Vol. Fire Department arrived to assist with a three-alarm structure fire on February 21st. Personnel from Rescue Pumper 622 and Tanker 651 responded. Before the fire was contained, crews assigned to interior fire operations worked inside the building for almost 90 minutes. Firefighters conducted overhaul for almost two more hours in order to find and put out any hot spots. Tanker 651 transported water from a neighboring fill site to assist with suppression efforts because there weren't enough hydrants in the area. Before going back into operation, units ran for almost four hours. Standby coverage was offered by the West Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
