Early Morning House Fire in Roslyn Heights Brought Under Control; All Occupants Escape Safely
Albertson, NY - In the early morning hours of Friday, February 27th, at approximately 2:05 a.m., firefighters were alerted by Nassau County Fire Communications to a house fire on Oxford Street in the Roslyn Heights section of the district. A Signal 10 was transmitted after reports indicated fire showing from the windows on the first floor and second-floor corner of a private dwelling.
Engine 8011 was the first unit to arrive on scene and quickly stretched an initial handline to attack and extinguish the main body of fire. Ladder 809 arrived shortly after and assisted crews with conducting searches and placing a second handline into operation.
All occupants of the home were able to escape safely before firefighters arrived. Fire officials expressed their thoughts and prayers to the family affected by the incident.
Several mutual aid departments assisted at the scene, including the Carle Place Fire Department, Roslyn Highlands Fire Department, and the Williston Park Fire Department. Additional standby coverage was provided by the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department, East Williston Fire Department, and M.L.F.D. Company 2.
The fire was brought under control in under 45 minutes, and all units returned to service after approximately two hours. The incident was managed under the command of Chief Tom Falls.
