On February 16, at around 1:30 p.m., the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Department was alerted in response to multiple reports of thick black smoke along Indian Springs Road in the Town of Chester.
While the units were responding, Car 245 requested a second alert tanker assignment to put mutual help companies on standby. Upon arrival, Car 247 discovered a fully engaged structure fire, and all mutual aid resources, including two ambulances, were dispatched to the location.
Chestertown firefighters worked with teams from Bolton Volunteer Fire Department, Horicon Volunteer Fire Department, Pottersville Volunteer Fire Department, Riverside Fire Company, and Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Company. Winter conditions and the seasonal roadway required additional logistical planning for water supply and suppression operations. EMS coverage was provided by the Johnsburg EMS and Warrensburg EMS. Additional support was provided by the Chestertown Fire Ladies Auxiliary, Warren County Office of Emergency Services, the Town of Chester Highway Department, and Warren County fire coordinators. Firefighters remained on scene until after 7:30 PM assisting investigators before all units returned to service around 9:00 PM.
