February 25, 2026 — Overnight, members of the Guilderland Fire Department were dispatched to assist the Westmere Fire Department at a reported structure fire on Brandon Terrace in the Town of Guilderland.
The homeowner reported a bedroom fire, and first-arriving units confirmed a working structure fire. Guilderland firefighters responded with Engine 28, which was assigned to establish a water supply for Westmere crews already operating on scene. Once a steady water supply was secured, Guilderland members assisted with suppression efforts alongside neighboring departments.
As operations continued into the early morning hours, the department’s Structural Decontamination Unit was also requested to the scene to provide on-site decontamination for firefighters who had been operating in hazardous conditions.
The department noted that protecting the health and safety of firefighters after a fire is just as important as extinguishing it. Officials also expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation among mutual aid partners who worked together throughout the incident.
