Bay Shore Crews Respond to Overturned DOT Plow Truck

Bay Shore, NY — February 23rd —The Bay Shore Fire Department responded to an overturned New York State Department of Transportation plow truck on Sunrise Highway in the evening.


Firefighters worked alongside the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, Town of Islip Fire Marshal's Office, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, MTA Police Department, and Suffolk County Police Department.


A hazardous materials crew stayed on the scene for several hours to contain and clean up a diesel fuel spill from the plow truck, while environmental regulators checked local waterways for pollution.


Authorities stopped the westbound Sunrise Highway service road and the expressway's right lane to allow crews to safely conduct cleanup operations.
