MVC, Storm Calls, and EMS Responses Keep Crews Active

Arkport, NY — February 26th —The Arkport Hose Company No. 1, Inc. reported a busy week of calls from February 22nd to February 26th.
On February 22nd, at 11:52 a.m., crews from the North Hornell Volunteer Fire Department and the City of Hornell Fire Department responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash at County Route 66 and State Route 36. A vehicle had rolled over. Two patients were extricated, and three were transferred by ambulance after air medical was deemed unavailable due to weather. New York State Police also responded. Later that evening, at 6:13 p.m., personnel cleared many trees that had fallen across Sharps Hill Road in Hornellsville. On February 24th, at 5:27 p.m., firefighters and EMS responded to Main Street in the Village of Arkport for a fall that resulted in leg injuries. A patient was transported by ambulance from Hornell.
On February 25th, at 6:47 a.m., crews responded to County Route 65 in Hornellsville for a diabetic emergency with respiratory problems, carrying one patient by ambulance. On February 26th, at 6:22 a.m., the department was asked to assist with a carbon monoxide alarm activation on County Route 66, but North Hornell leadership held them back.
