Greenfield, NY — February 7th —The Greenfield Fire District was responded at 9:36 a.m. to a reported commercial structure fire after many people reported smelling smoke throughout the premises. The Ballston Spa Fire Department responded to the automatic FAST assignment.

Tower 293 came first, confirming a strong stench and light smoke conditions inside the structure. Because of the size of the structure, command requested an engine from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department to assist with searches, while the Wilton Fire Department was placed on standby to provide coverage.

Following a thorough investigation, technicians identified the source of the smoke as a first-floor air handling unit. Units were emptied after the building was deemed safe.
