This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

TEANECK, NJ - Firefighters were called to a reported house fire Monday evening, March 4th, around 8:40 P.M., at 147 East Forest Ave.

Battalion Chief 1 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire in the rear of a two-and-a-half-story frame and transmitted a second-alarm on arrival. Squad 23 arrived and stretched an initial attack line as Truck 2 arrived and conducted searches.

Englewood and Hackensack arrived on scene and assisted Teaneck firefighters with making an interior attack, however little progress was made and command ordered everyone to evacuate the structure and move to a defensive attack. Multiple exterior handlines were put into operation to knock down the heavy fire in the rear. Command ordered units to switch to an interior attack to knock down the remaining fire.

Mutual aid from Bogota, Ridgefield Park and Bergenfield assisted on scene chasing pockets of fire throughout the house. The fire was brought under control in about one hour. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
