Moonachie warehouse fire goes to three alarms

A smoky fire that may have been sparked by a smoldering piece of foam was kept in check by sprinklers and doused by firefighters at a plant in Moonachie. At 5:01 PM on February 27th the Moonachie Fire Department was dispatched to 1 State Street for a reported water flow alarm.
"The first arriving police officer reported heavy smoke coming from the building. As first due units arrived, they immediately transmit the second alarm, bringing additional fire units to the scene from surrounding towns," the Moonachie Fire Department reported.
The building was a one-story State Street building at Woodbridge Inoac USA, which manufactures polyurethane foam for air filtration, sound insulation and medical applications. The sprinkler system was activated, lines were stretched to
feed the sprinkler system & began aggressive interior attack, with multiple handlines to knock down the main body of fire.
"Additional alarms were transmitted, bringing additional mutual aid to the scene to assist with ventilation and overhaul."
"Once the fire was knocked down, companies rotated through rehab," the Moonachie FD reported. "Members operated forklifts in the building to move foam product around to complete extinguishment. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Mutual aid at the scene and in coverage included firefighters from Carlstadt, Rutherford, Ridgefield Park, East Rutherford, Wood-Ridge, Little Ferry, South Hackensack, Wallington, Hasbrouck Heights, Hackensack, companies that covered in Moonachie headquarters came from Rochelle Park, Garfield and Maywood.
Paramus co 3 was special called for the ventilation trailer fan to assist in venting the building of smoke. The Moonachie First Aid & Rescue Squad and DPW also assisted on scene.
