February 11, 2026 — The Boston Volunteer Fire Department conducted hands-on extrication training despite challenging winter conditions, reinforcing the department’s commitment to preparedness and operational readiness. Members trained alongside a representative from Fire & Rescue Products and firefighters from the Morton Corners Fire Company during an evening session that featured temperatures near 20 degrees, steady wind, and falling snow.
The realistic weather conditions provided crews with valuable experience operating hydraulic rescue tools in cold, icy environments, closely simulating the types of scenarios responders may face during winter motor vehicle crashes. Firefighters practiced vehicle stabilization, door removal, and coordinated team operations while managing the additional challenges posed by snow and limited footing.
Department officials expressed appreciation to the training partners who helped facilitate the session, noting that adverse weather only strengthens preparedness. “Training must go on,” members emphasized, highlighting their dedication to maintaining high standards of service for the community regardless of conditions.
