February 23, 2026 — The Manchester Fire Department announced that its long-anticipated Annex Building arrived overnight and unloading began this morning at the Public Safety Center. Department officials extended their sincere appreciation to Brent Herrmann of Herrmann Construction for coordinating and completing the unloading process. Herrmann, who is also a representative for American Steel, the manufacturer of the structure, is generously donating the site work and will oversee construction of the building. With the structure now on site, crews are awaiting favorable spring weather to begin site preparation and permanently set the building in place. The department reports it remains $25,000 short of its fundraising goal, with remaining funds earmarked for paving, electrical installation, and heating. Once complete, the Annex will protect critical equipment and enhance response capabilities for the community. Residents interested in contributing or pledging support are encouraged to donate, share the campaign, or contact Bill Beideman, 2nd Assistant Chief, at w.beideman@manchester-vt.gov or 570-213-1316. Department leaders expressed gratitude to all supporters, noting that continued community generosity directly strengthens volunteer readiness and public safety.
