Vergennes Fire Department Assists at Three-Alarm Structure Fire in Charlotte

February 10, 2026 — At approximately 9:58 p.m., the Vergennes Fire Department was dispatched as mutual aid to Roscoe Road in Charlotte for a reported wood shed fire attached to a two-story single-family residence. Upon arrival, Vergennes crews integrated with Charlotte Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services and assisting agencies to support defensive fire operations and overhaul as heavy fire conditions impacted the garage and residential portions of the structure. Vergennes responded with 17 firefighters, including 12 SCBA-certified members, operating under challenging winter weather conditions that included freezing temperatures and snowfall. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid partners included Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department, Shelburne Fire Department, Hinesburg Fire Department, South Burlington Fire Department, Monkton Volunteer Fire Department, Williston Fire Department, Starksboro Volunteer Fire Department, New Haven Volunteer Fire Department, Addison Volunteer Fire Department, along with Shelburne Communications Center, Shelburne Rescue, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, the Charlotte Highway Department, Green Mountain Power, National Weather Service Burlington, American Red Cross, and McDurfee’s Tree Service. Officials expressed appreciation for the coordinated regional response and strong interagency teamwork throughout the incident.
