Screven County, GA — February 19th —The Screven County Fire Department recently conducted a two-day GPSTC Structure Fire Control program, which brought together firefighters from over the region for hands-on training and classroom education. The seminar covered modern fire behavior, building construction, and how research continues to influence today's firefighting operations.
Students completed practical evolutions that highlighted flow pathways, air movement, and hose stream management. Crews worked on managing ventilation points and applying water to enhance indoor conditions, reduce heat, and increase visibility for firemen and possible victims. In addition to technical skills, the training helped strengthen relationships between departments and promote consistent operational standards. Leaders said learning together ensures mutual-aid partners operate from the same playbook, improving coordination, safety, and service across the region during structure fire responses.
