Two Alarm Apartment Fire in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY,UTAH-Salt Lake City fire crews were dispatched to City Park Apartments at 786 North 900 West on Feb. 23 at 8:14 p.m. for a structure fire.

The fire began in the bathroom of an apartment on the second floor, according to Jasen Asay, spokesperson for Salt Lake City Fire and EMS. The fire also extended into a third floor apartment directly above where the fire originated. Crews were able to contain the fire to those two apartments.

Investigators have determined that the fire started in a bathroom fan. The fire was ruled as accidental.

The two occupants of the apartment where the fire originated were not home at the time of the fire.

According to Asay, most residents of the building were allowed back in around 10 p.m. The occupants of the apartments which suffered damage were displaced. The Red Cross assisted those who were displaced.

Twenty-five firefighters responded to the fire.

Fire damaged two apartments and six units had smoke damage.
