February 23, 2026 — The Bridgewater Fire Department is urging residents to remain off roadways unless absolutely necessary as a significant snowstorm continues to impact the area. Officials reported that several emergency vehicles have already experienced difficulty navigating heavy snow and hazardous conditions, emphasizing that clear roads are critical to ensuring prompt and safe emergency response. Residents are asked to allow local Highway Department crews the space needed to plow and treat streets, as their efforts are essential to restoring safe travel throughout the community. Fire officials also encouraged neighbors to check on seniors and those who may need assistance during the storm. In addition, residents are reminded to shovel out fire hydrants near their homes to provide firefighters quick access in the event of a fire and to clear all exterior vents, including furnace and dryer vents, to prevent dangerous carbon monoxide buildup. Downed wires should be reported to National Grid at 800-465-1212, while sparking or arcing wires should be reported immediately by calling 911. Officials thanked the community for its cooperation in helping maintain safety during the winter weather event.
