MADISON, GA — January 26th — As icy conditions continue to make travel around the county dangerous, the City of Madison Fire & Rescue is advising citizens to avoid the roads. From Rutledge to Buckhead, crews are responding to many car crashes, as well as reports of fallen trees and electrical lines. The persistent dangers were brought to light by a recent single-vehicle collision on Atlanta Highway. According to officials, the motorist thought the situation could be handled before losing control, which is consistent with what rescuers are seen throughout the region.


Ice buildup and freezing temperatures are decreasing traction and lengthening stopping distances. Additionally, these risks increase the demand on public safety resources and hinder emergency response. Unnecessary travel raises the danger of accidents and injuries, officials emphasized.
