Newton County A Shift Completes Live Fire

COVINGTON, GA — February 10th — With assistance from the department's training division, the Newton County Fire Service A Shift recently finished its yearly live-fire training, which focused on preparedness and safe operations. Firefighters received training in controlled burn settings that mimic actual fireground circumstances. Crews worked on enhancing communication, coordinating ventilation, advancing hose lines, and conducting searches in limited visibility. Additionally, under genuine heat and smoke, the evolutions strengthened decision-making, accountability, and teamwork.


In order to protect participants, live-fire training is conducted with licensed instructors and safety officers in accordance with national safety requirements. According to officials, this training aids in skill maintenance and incident preparation for firemen. Department leaders saw that uniform training throughout shifts enhances community service and boosts operational readiness.
