COVINGTON, GA — February 5th — Eleven new firemen were welcomed into service at the Newton County Fire Service's Recruitment Graduation Ceremony, which took place at the Historic Courthouse in Covington. As the recruits took the oath and finished their basic training, department members, relatives, and friends joined them. In order to prepare members for daily calls and mutual assistance operations, the program comprised classroom instruction, practical fireground skills, and emergency medical response training.

Strong hiring and training are crucial, according to officials, since the number of calls and community needs keep increasing. The teachers and staff that helped the class and prepared the new firemen for the field were acknowledged by department management. As they continue their advanced training and certificates, the grads will now start working shifts.
