INTERLACHEN, FL — January 31st — When District 72 of the Interlachen Lake Estates Station 17 Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene of a residential structure fire, they discovered a single-wide mobile home completely engulfed in flames and an adjacent camper starting to burn. In order to prevent the fire from spreading further, crews set up handlines and concentrated on exposure protection.
Tanker operations and a water shuttle were set up to supplement suppression attempts because there was insufficient hydrant coverage. For over four hours, firefighters worked to contain the fire and perform a thorough overhaul. The Fire Marshal and health and safety staff arrived to help with the investigation and operations. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still being looked into. Among the units were Tankers 13, 17, 4, and 14, Engine 7, Engine 14, Engine 11, and Rescue 20.
