TEANECK, NJ - Two people were killed and a third was badly burned in a three-alarm fire that investigators were deeming as suspicious.
Teaneck units were dispatched to 850 Palisade Avenue at approximately 12:30 A.M. on February 19th. Smoke was showing from a rear basement apartment in a two-and-a-half-story structure. A second-alarm was transmitted, bringing Hackensack and Englewood units to the scene.
The visible flames were quickly extinguished, but three people were found trapped in the basement apartment with extreme burns. Firefighters removed the victims and they were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. A third-alarm was called for, but the fire was soon placed under control as members overhauled.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, along with the Teaneck P.D. and F.D. were investigating, but were withholding further details while the investigation continues.
