On January 29, at 5:07 p.m., the City of Bradenton Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1821 10th Avenue West. Within minutes, the first units arrived and discovered substantial smoke and fire reaching past the roofline of a single-story, five-unit residential property. Prior to suppression operations, all inhabitants were reported to be securely evacuated. Crews launched an offensive attack, initially pouring water from the outside before switching to an internal fire strike. At 5:16 p.m., firefighters successfully extinguished the fire at its origin unit. There were no reported injuries.
The fire displaced one resident. The investigators discovered that the cause was unattended cooking oil or grease in the kitchen. Damage is estimated at approximately $120,000. The response included five Bradenton Fire Department units with 15 personnel, an incident commander, a fire investigator, Manatee County EMS, and the Bradenton Police Department.
